MetroCON 14 Round-Up

Last week the Dallas Market Hall played host to designers, students and industry partners from all around the region at the largest area designer trade show, MetroCON 14.   The last time I attended MetroCON Expo was way back in 2012 (see my 2012 Round-up here).   MetroCON 14 was informative and exciting.  Great products, great classes, great networking!

Lots has changed in the design world in the last two years.  Here are the latest trends I noticed at the show:

1. Sit/Stand- This trend is gaining momentum from just collaborative spaces with high top tables all the way into the benching configurations and the private office! The best part is- you don't have to choose just one position to work from, with motorized height adjustable tables, you can change your mind all day long with just the push of a button.

2. Integrated Technology- This is a continuing trend, which started a few years ago, but I think it is really starting to hit it's stride.

3. Personal Space/ Group Space- Creating and carving out more intimate spaces for focused and collaborative tasks using furniture and dividers.

4. Slim Profiles- How thin can you get?

5. Personal Tables- I love these little pull up tables for a cup of coffee or working on your mobile device.  It seemed like every furniture manufacturer had their own version at the trade show.
